Indian Restaurant Near Princes Hill
A short trip to Brunswick for dinner and drinks
If you’re in Princes Hill and feel like Indian food, Eat Drink Bhang is only a few kilometres away in Brunswick.
From Princes Hill, Google Maps shows the restaurant at roughly 3.2–3.6 km away, with the drive taking around 8 minutes depending on where you start and traffic at the time.
You’ll find us at 1/2A Mitchell Street, Brunswick, tucked just off Sydney Road in a converted warehouse.
The menu covers Indian street food, regional curries, Thali, vegetarian dishes and a cocktail list that takes plenty of cues from the kitchen.
Come over for a midweek dinner, a drink and a few plates, or bring the whole group.
What Are You in the Mood For?
You don’t need a game plan before you arrive.
If you want to start small, there’s Crispy Spinach, Bhang Samosas, Pani Puri, Kerala Fried Chicken, Nepalese Momos and Eggplant Chips.
Then you can move onto curries.
Butter Chicken is there if you want something familiar. If you want to go a little further into the menu, try Kori Gassi, a Mangalorean chicken curry with curry leaves, chilli and coconut.
There’s also Rajasthani Goat and Prawn Moilee, along with chef’s specials that rotate through the menu.
You can see the Indian food menu before you come.
Vegetarian Dinner? Easy.
Vegetarian diners have a proper choice here.
Current dishes include Bharli Vanghi, Gobi Korma, Butter Paneer Masala and Charred Broccolini, plus vegetarian snacks and the Veg Thali.
So if one person wants Butter Chicken and someone else is vegetarian, you don’t have to choose a restaurant around one person’s order.
If you have allergies or particular dietary requirements, let the team know when ordering.
Try the Bhang Thali
The Thali is a good option if you want to try several things without ordering half the menu.
It includes a weekly rotating curry, momo, samosa, vegetable curry, daal, raita, gulab jamun, rice, pappadum, and naan.
Veg Thali — $29.90
Non-Veg Thali — $33.90
There’s a personal reason it ended up on the menu too.
Sway remembers sitting down for Thali in India and having one dish after another added to the plate. It was generous, varied and completely different from ordering one main for yourself.
That memory became part of how the Thali at Eat Drink Bhang came together.
Food First. Cocktails Right Alongside It.
Eat Drink Bhang isn’t a restaurant with a few cocktails added to the drinks list.
The bar has always been part of the idea.
Ingredients such as curry leaf, mango, coconut, chilli, chai, cardamom and ginger move between the food and drinks, so the two sides of the menu make sense together.
You might go for a Curry Leaf Margarita, Kheera Masala, Karnataka Tiger, Queen of Kerala or Indian Whiskey Sour.
There are also zero-proof cocktails, wine, beer and whisky.

A Brunswick Restaurant With a Bit of History Behind It
Eat Drink Bhang opened in Brunswick in 2017, but Sway’s connection with the area goes back much further.
She has spent more than 30 years working in hospitality and is still regularly on the floor at the restaurant.
The building has its own story too.
When Eat Drink Bhang was being created, Sway and Dougal worked on much of the converted warehouse themselves rather than turning it into a polished, designed-from-scratch restaurant.
That slightly tucked-away Brunswick character is still part of the place.
